Why a self-testing exit sign
NFPA 101 requires a 30-second functional test of every exit sign and emergency light every 30 days, plus a 90-minute test once a year, with written records. In most buildings that means a ladder, a test button pressed and held, or a breaker turned off for an hour and a half. This sign runs those tests on its own and reports the result on the face of the unit.
That turns a monthly testing round into a walk-through: look at each indicator, note the result in your log book, and move on. If you ever need to run a test on demand, the One Touch button does it in one press.
Where it fits
Corridors, stairwells, warehouses, schools, clinics and offices: anywhere you need a code-compliant illuminated exit sign and want the testing burden gone. Pair it with a self-testing twin head emergency light or choose the combo unit to cover both in one fixture.
Frequently asked questions
Does a self-testing exit sign still need monthly inspections?
Yes. NFPA 101 still expects a visual check and written records. A self-testing sign removes the manual test itself, so the monthly check becomes a quick look at the indicator and a log entry.
Can I run a test on demand?
Yes. Press the One Touch button once for the 30-second test or twice for the 90-minute test, for example when an inspector visits.
